For twelve weeks, four students from Skidmore College consulted with Davin Workforce Solutions through the spring 2019 Skidmore-Saratoga Consulting Partnership (SSCP). Allison Dalton, Pietro Ferrari, Junxi Gao, and Anamaria Golemac journeyed to the Davin office each week to sit with a core group from Davin to dissect each and every element of the company.
SSCP is the public face of MB 360, a Skidmore course. Headed by Professor Colleen Burke, “MB 360 – Consulting: Practice, Process, and Problem Solving” teaches students advanced techniques for strategic consulting. The course goes beyond theory and takes the students outside of the classroom and into local Saratoga Springs businesses for real-world experience. In its seven years, MB 360 students have consulted with over 40 businesses. In addition to Davin Workforce Solutions, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) and Esperanto were picked to be consulted by the spring 2019 session.
The work culminated on May 7, 2019, with the four students presenting their findings and suggestions to Davin and the rest of their class. The hour-long presentation showcased the high-level analysis and forward-thinking that the students brought to this assignment.
“The process of working with the students challenged our teams to collaborate and rethink our thought processes and ways of doing things,” Davin CEO and Owner, David Theobald, RN, MS said. “The Skidmore consultants also inspired us to dig deeper with new ideas and opportunities to grow the company.”
“We plan to implement many of the recommendations within the next few months and are excited to share back with the College on the growth and milestones we achieve. I highly recommend this program to any business as each student brings a unique knowledge base and skill set to the table.”
We at Davin want to thank Professor Colleen Burke, the students, and Skidmore for this enriching opportunity.
