On Friday, October 17th Davin Workforce Solutions participated in Skidmore College’s annual Career Jam.
Davin software developers Vasuki Chellappan and Enrico Patarini along with numerous other local professionals, met with Skidmore students to share their knowledge and advice about the computer science field.
“As a software developer, I think it is always good to interact with students and answer their questions about being a developer and the technologies we work with,” Vasuki said after the event. “And it gives us information about how knowledgeable and interested the students are in programming languages and developing tools. It is always a two-way transfer of knowledge: getting to know about the upcoming students and then sharing my experience as a developer.”
The event had special meaning for Enrico. He was attending Skidmore College when he started an internship at Davin Workforce Solutions. And it was that internship that led to his full-time position upon his graduation from the College.
“The experience was both nostalgic and rewarding,” Enrico said. “I found opportunities to discuss my experiences with current students and was reminded of my own internship hunt. Hopefully, some of my experience and knowledge is able to make it that much easier for these students to succeed. I truly appreciate all the guidance I received at that juncture of my life and am grateful to be in a position to pay it forward now.”
Davin Workforce Solutions has a strong commitment to education, whether it’s through further education with its own employees or through mentoring the next generation of software developers.
